What a Team Craves from the Leader

6 Powerful, Simple Leadership Reminders

by | Aug 3, 2018 | Leadership |

I have started twelve businesses. Some of those have been with partners.

I failed (forward) nine times. The other three turned into wins.

Along the way, I learned some simple, powerful leadership truths about my thousand-plus teammates.

Here they are:

1) Most people are insecure. Give them confidence. But, you need it first. You can’t give what you don’t have.

2) People want to feel important. Remember to honestly compliment them. Be specific. Make it meaningful.

3) People think about themselves first. Speak to their needs and point of view first. Make it matter to them.

4) People want to know how to act. Be an example to follow. Nothing speaks as loud as your actions.

5) People crave to be understood. Listen to them. Squint your ears when they talk. Be present. Engage. Focus on them.

6) People want a better life. Give them hope. Napoleon said “Leaders are dealers in hope.” He was right.

Do these things consistently. And your team will win, and so will you.
